DR. MARTHA MACINTYRE

Dr. Martha Macintyre is an anthropologist who has worked as an academic researcher in Papua New Guinea since 1979.

She teaches at The University of Melbourne in The Centre for Health and Society and has worked as a consultant on the social impact of mining in Papua New Guinea and on law and order policies at community level.

She has published on a wide range of subjects including women's rights and problems of domestic violence in Papua New Guinea, local responses to environmental impacts of mining and changes in health associated with mining projects.

Mr. ROY BANKA

Mr. Roy Banka holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Technology, PNG as well as a Certificate in Plant Taxonomy/Ecology and Systematics from the Institute of Biological Scienct, Indonesia.

Mr. Banka's previous positions include: Acting Deputy Director, Forest Research Institute, Program Manager - Forest Biology Program, and Curator - National Botanical Gardens in Lae.

He is a member of several boards, some of which include, the National Research Institute, Asia Pacific Association of Forestry Research Institution and the PNG Representative for the Convention on International Trade on Endangered Species - scientific authority of flora of PNG (CITES).

Mr. Banka is currently the Forest Research Coordinator with the WWF Western Melanesian Program, Papua New Guinea.

Ms. WINNIE WILLIAM

Ms. William holds a Master of Nursing and a Bachelor of Nursing from the Monash University, Melbourne. She holds professional membership with the Catholic Nurses Association and is regestered with the Nursing Council Board of Papua New Guinea.

She has over eight years experience in nursing. She was a Registered Nurse Officer with the Kerema Diocese and the Mendi Diocese, a Junior Tutor with the Kumin Community Health Workers Training School in Mendi.

Ms. William is currently the Health Secretary for the Catholic Diocese i Mendi, implementing the Vision & Mission Statement of the Catholic Health Services in the Diocesan Health Establishment.
